Results just announced - "Loch Ness Cafe", from out latest CD What's That Thing?, received a Finalist award in the current Mid-Atlantic Song Contest.
That's just the latest in a string of awards for that song: it also won awards in the U.K. Songwriting Contest (in two categories), the Just Plain Folks Lyrics Contest and the American Songwriter Lyric Contest.
And you may recall that "Land Of Love" was a finalist in the 2001 Mid-Atlantic Song Contest. We're finally recording a finished version of that song for our next CD. (And "Television Sky" was an MASC category winner.)
And, finally, Mike was selected as a finalist in the 2019 South Florida Folk Festival Singer-Songwriter Contest, and will be performing at the festival in Fort Lauderdale in January.

Our song "Beautiful", from our latest CD, is included in WOS podcast #838 (at about 27 minutes into the program). Our ad (with "You Go First" and "Five Foot Four Girl") is also in this podcast...which has good music from a lot of other female artists - check it out!

If you have a song that's sufficiently weird, The Funny Music Project might post it on their web site. Most of the songs appear to reference Star Wars, Star Trek, farts or poop.
We're proud to announce that on July 20th, our song "Overly Enthusiastic Love" is featured on the FuMP site...even though it (mostly) avoids the top references above. Here's the specific page for our song.
Also, "Loch Ness Cafe" was previously featured on their site, and now it's included in their latest compilation CD, which you can find here:
On July 26th the hosts of the FuMP interviewed us (and played our song) on their live podcast. You can listen to the podcast here. Our segment starts about 12 and a half minutes into the podcast...and so far we've been afraid to listen back to it.

As you may have heard, "Five Foot Four Girl (In a Ten Foot U-Haul Truck)" was selected to be included in the April 27th Women of Substance podcast (show #784). And now "What's That Thing?" is in their new podcast, June 6th (show #805). Their podcast gets 10,000+ downloads per month, so this is pretty exciting! Not to mention that all of the music in the podcasts is pretty darn good. You can hear all of the podcasts (including older ones) at wosradio.com. So check it out; here's the info:
And we're also included in an upcoming feature on the Funny Music Project site (thefump.com) - we'll let you know when it's been released.

Host Steve Brockway played "What's That Thing?" (from the What's That Thing? CD) on the April 1st The Folk Show on Fort Collins, Colorado radio station KRFC-FM. Archived shows are on the show's web page - though as of today the April shows haven't been posted yet.
Hmm, "What's That Thing?" is not exactly "folk", and this was their April Fools Day show. But the description of the show's format is "The Folk Show encompasses both modern and traditional folk music. The format is mostly acoustic and singer/songwriter,but rules are made to be broken, and often are." - so in this case we suppose there are broken rules lying around on the broadcast booth floor. Thank you, Steve!

Host John Sillberg played "Beautiful" (from the What's That Thing? CD) on the March 19th show Serendipity, on Ontario radio CKOL.
If you don't live in Ontario, Canada, or if you do and happened to miss the show, you can still hear it - it's on podcast at this URL . Our song is at 48.49 minutes into the show and, if the spirit moves you, you can "like" it and/or comment on it.
